Karis Nowell

D.C., A.R.T.

Dr. Karis Nowell earned her Doctorate of Chiropractic degree from Parker University in August 2024. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Texas Woman’s University, where she graduated in 2020. While at TWU, Dr. Nowell gained hands-on experience as a chiropractic assistant at ChiroSport Specialists and served as a figure skating and Pilates coach.  She is full body Active Release Technique (A.R.T.) certified and certified in the Dry Needling and Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) tools we offer at the office.

A lifelong interest in the human body, sparked by her own experiences as a competitive figure skater, led her to chiropractic care early on. With three uncles who are chiropractors, Dr. Nowell was introduced to chiropractic at a young age. At 14, she suffered from a persistent injury that wasn’t improving with traditional treatments. Her path changed when she sought help from Dr. Troy Van Biezen, who used Active Release Technique to help her recover. This experience had a profound impact on her career and continues to influence her approach to patient care.

In addition to her chiropractic practice, Dr. Nowell is a dedicated Pilates enthusiast, valuing its emphasis on strength, coordination, and balance. She has incorporated Pilates as a cross-training tool throughout her athletic journey and became PSC Pilates certified in 2019 to further deepen her expertise.

Outside of work, Dr. Nowell enjoys reading, working out, spending time with her two dogs and husband, exploring outdoor activities, and trying new restaurants.
